Preparing your Quilt for Longarm Quilting

• Square and trim your quilt top. Note: it will be quilted as received. 
• Secure seams and Stabilize quilt top edges with a 1/8 to 1/4 inch from all edges. This helps to stabilize and reduce seams splitting open. 
• Fix seam blow outs, narrow seams, etc. Accurate 1/4-inch seams are very important to reduce seams pulling apart. 
• Press Quilt tops. If you top does not lay flat it will be quilted as received and may need an additional costs to be able to quilt. We will discuss with you before starting your project. 
• Mark the "TOP" of your quilt by Safety Pin a slip of paper labeled “TOP” on that part of your quilt. *The part that will be head of the bed or top.
• NO embellishments: buttons, charms, pins, etc. Quilting sews over all appliques, embroidery, etc. After quilting - Add Special items 
• Straight boarders are to be done AFTER quilting. We do not accept quilt tops with edges that are scalloped, triangle, etc.
• Do Not Layer the quilt, batting, and back. Each are to be separate.  
• Quilts not trimmed after quilting. (Extra charge).

NOTE: We are happy to prepare your quilt top at an extra hourly charge.  

HELP – MY QUILT TOP IS NOT PERFECT – We are happy to discuss options with you to find a quilting solution. 

Back fabric:

• MUST be at least 3 inches on all side larger than quilt top.
• Thick batting the back will need to be longer than 3 inches top and bottom.
• Wash your quilt back (not needed for minky fabrics).
• Square your quilt back.
• Press quilt backbe pressed. (If not, extra charge will be added.) 

Back Fabrics We Quilt: (Extra charge may added based on the quality.)

• Cotton - prewashed (shrunk)
• Flannel - prewashed (shrunk)
• Minky - no prewash needed
• Corduroy - prewashed (shrunk)
• Denim - prewashed (shrunk)
• We are open to discussing other fabrics.

Backs seams 

• Seam allowance 1/2 in or more - pressed open.
• Sew horizontal back seam 
• Remove selvedge edge in seam back.

Batting is just as important as your quilt top.

Batting MUST be at least 3 inches on all side larger than quilt top.

• Batting must be of quilting quality. 
• We will accept: Cotton, Bamboo, Wool, Polyester. 
• You may provide your own as long as it is quilting quality.
• We can provide batting (extra charge) – please contact us for type and costs. 

We only use thread designed for the longarm quilting machine.

You will choose the thread color.
